Four varied crafts for you to have a go at, this year.
When she's not rushed off her feet (which is always), helping to run The Hinckley and District Society of Arts (HDSA) OR helping to run Burbage Festival, our own Sara Wykescan be found unwinding by shredding up pieces of paper! The end results are truly impressive. Sarah says;
"Come along and make a ripped paper collage to brighten up any room. This will be a fun and friendly session for every level from those who have never created any art to artists who have worked with other media.
"Using cardboard, magazines and newspapers and glue we will work on a sample picture or you can adopt the technique to your own design to create a A4 sized picture.
"You will never know how relaxing it is to tear up paper creatively until you try it!"
There just 12 places for this one 2-hour session, running from 1PM to 3PM, for £12 per person, with materials provided.

Macrameé Craft Workshop with Lisa O'Mara
I am Lisa, a fibre artist with a passion for macramé and I love introducing this wonderful art form to others. I create unique pieces of art to display in the home from plant hangers and wall hangings to accessories and even macramé curtains. I have had my work displayed at weddings and galleries and have been featured in Mollie Makes and Marie Claire magazines.
Macramé is such a relaxing and enjoyable craft and once you know some of the basic knots it is easy to create your own unique piece.
Join me for a relaxing afternoon creating your own beautiful macramé plant hanger. This is a lovely project suitable for both beginners and those with macramé experience and is an opportunity to learn a new skill and take home a unique piece of art that doubles up as a useful way to display a plant!
All materials provided but plant/pot not included.Your final piece can be made to fit a range of pot sizes up to a diameter of approximately 15cm.
A maximum of 14 people for one session ~3 hours long at a cost of £20 per person.
Willow Weaving with Chaz Friend
This craft event SOLD OUT - Sorry!
The Festival welcomes back another regular, Chaz from Wayside Willow. He seeks to bring the ancient craft of Willow weaving to Twenty First Century learners, engaging them with historical skills and techniques, while cultivating creative thinking and problem solving.
Chaz says: "l believe we are all created to be creative - its a core part of our humanity. Some people never find that place inside them. I know from experience that willow can help free that creative spark in people who think of themselves as non-artistic."
Today, Chaz will be guiding you to make a beautiful willow heart or useful plant support for your garden. The session lasts up to three hours so you may have time to make more than one item in between tea and cake breaks. All materials provided.
