ABOUT THE EVENT
LAST FEW SPACES!
Join in with this unique opportunity to learn how to shoot better photographs with your mobile phone camera and be part of the Burbage Community Arts Festival. Creator of the long running documentary photography project Hinckley, Burbage & Bosworth Photographed - Paul Hands will lead two community based workshops beginning at Burbage Community Library and featuring a short and comfortable walk around the iconic sites in Burbage that have featured in many photographs from the history of the village. Sylvia Whitworth from Burbage Heritage Group will also be there to share her local knowledge and provide old photographs of these sites.
Learn to photograph them creatively with a modern twist and some expert guidance from Paul who is a local qualified and professional photographer.
On the workshops you will be given some tuition on how to make a photograph instead of taking a photograph and there is most definitely a difference between the two styles.
After creating your photographs, we’ll return to the Library, where you can submit your best photographs, feature them in a public exhibition and have the
chance to win a judged competition. Each person will have one of their photographs printed and put up in the show. The winning photographs will be framed and take a prominent place on the wall, also potentially featuring in historic collections with the greatest photographs of
Burbage throughout history.
As an added bonus, there will of course be some wine and nibbles available for all.
Don’t miss out on this fantastic opportunity to brush up on your photography with your mobile phone!
This event is appropriate for adults and older children aged 14+.
